Hi there. 🙂 3ge70

I've been craving some really good romance manga lately. The genre doesn’t matter to me as much as the dynamic between the characters. I really like consensual stuff, where it isn’t so much about a "chase" to get the other party (the one that isn't on board with the relationship) to consider them as a potential partner, but rather about mutual attraction. I hope you understand what I mean. I don't mean to exclude manga in which the couple are unsure about eachother, (feelings/compability etc), as long as there's talking involved. With that said, you're free to rec me the romance manga you've found to be interesting. Please try to describe what stands out about it to you, because that stuff is interesting. 😉

Oh, and also— gender matchups doesn't matter to me, so don't limit yourself with that.

I'll compile a list of manga that I liking, for the reasons above:

Love Nest (MINADUKI Yuu)

Also Ao Haru Ride is an example of what I'm not looking for, in this case.

Completed:
Jumyou wo Kaitotte Moratta. Ichinen ni Tsuki, Ichimanen de. - unique psychological aspect and character interactions, unusual time-frame.

Sayonara Piano Sonata - if you like music.

Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai - rapid but interesting pace and character development. Terminal illness.

Melo Holic (webtoon) - psychological and mystery elements.

Octave - yuri.

Molester Man - one of the funnier ones.

ReLIFE (webtoon) - unique setting, but fairly realistic overall. Heavy focus on character development.

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun - cold girl, troublemaker guy. Comfy, easy read.

Last Game - rich guy, independent girl. Very slow-paced and cute.

Ongoing:
Palace Meidi - Meiji era, female empress.

Kimi wa Pet - Very slow paced, but very unique plot (completed)

Namaikizakari - a little slow, but every chapter adds to character growth (ongoing)

Horimiya - a bit more slice of life, but the main couple had such a realistic story progression (ongoing)

Suki desu, Tonari no Onii-chan - about two pairs of siblings, the older brothers are best friends, the younger sisters are best friends (ongoing)

the first three are over 80 chapters long so far. Hope this helps

Whattttttt ?
I get this manga have no drama, a good thing for who don't like drama get in the way. Which is something do not even rare some years recently.
"realistic story progression" 😕. really ? It have some of weakest development i ever seen and as a whole not very consistent. All the setting and character at the beginning mean nothing after like reach like 5 chapters or so. It interesting for like 2 chapter and the art is only thing that keep being good. not even realistic, call this manga having development is also a joke

A second on Octave (one of my all-time favorites), Bonnouji and Strobe Edge.......I'd also recommend Toshiue no Hito.

Good luck finding something to read 🙂

Soushi Souai (Liberum) is a nice easy read, the title literally translate to "mutual love". Their interactions are cute and it's overall a wholesome manga.

Our relationship is... is a bit of a slow romance but I think it portrays the dynamics of their relationship very well. The story is very realistic (to me) and reading the author's notes at the end really sealed how great a story it was.

Totsuzen Desu ga, Ashita Kekkon Shimasu, they're a couple but they have different views on marriage but they still love each other very much.

Kawaii Hito (SAITOU Ken) is another easy slive of life romance between a pretty girl and a scary face guy

I just finished Here We Go Again and loved it. It's a webtoon, has a lot of drama, but is about a married couple who grew old together but lost their love, then through some mysterious circumstances turn into their 17-year-old selves and kind of start over. Really interesting, a lot of questions and issues that are real with romantic relationships.

Also I like Koudaike no Hitobito because it's so funny.

Sekine-kun no Koi had personal growth and romance 🙂

Basara - isn't purely a romance though but it's a very long epic story.

I second Horimiya!

Mairimashita, Senpai - Personal current favourite. Very realistic and sweet high school romance. No crazy drama and the boyfriend communicates very well. It's very sweet.

strobe edge - Cute first love story with a genuine heroine.

Kobayashi ga Kawai Sugite Tsurai!! - starts off as a gender bender with a girl pretending to be her brother at an all boys school. The eventual relationship between the girl and her crush is adorable.

Suki tte Ii na yo. - another realistic easy going series, it's pretty popular. Girl with low self esteem starts dating a popular guy and develops throughout the series.

Kingyo Sou - complete and easy going high school series about a girl who falls in love with a boy who is deaf.

Gozen 0-ji, Kiss Shi ni Kite yo - Girl falls in love with an actor while he is filming at her school. Typical romance drama but the lead male is very communicative and ive. Even curtails some typical romance tropes in fun ways.

Can I Kiss you Everyday? - complete series with 4 volumes (I think?). Short high school romance of childhood friends reunited. Most of the drama stems from the heroines brother having a sister complex.

Candy Life - Short, Fast Paced, Complete. From the mangaka of Kimi wa Petto (and same universe, the heroine in the story is Sumire's sister). Girl runs away from arranged marriage and meets a guy at a club. The couple is pretty wacky but very cute.

Nanji, Chikai no Kuchizuke wo... - Short two volume series about a high school couple that are already married. Fairly unique series and I really enjoy the art.

Love so Life - long and incomplete unfortunately. Story of a hs girl who babysits twins and begins to fall in love with the dad. Nice if you like age gap series that aren't very creepy. The romance progresses very slow but it's a nice series.

I started Buddy Go! recently and absolutely loved it. The art is 10/10. The story is about how this girl loves dancing, but is afraid of what others think due to her past. She and her best friend post her dancing as a guy online as 'Ai'. They get popular pretty quickly and a top dancer notices her. The FL auditions (as a guy) and gets put in an idol with this top dancer. As for character development, I'd say it's really good because it shows her the FL starts becoming more expressive and confident. It's definitely a must-read for me!
