I want recommendations for manga (or western comics) where unique and interesting world is explored. What I'm looking for is something with strong world building and creativity, preferably 50+ chapters. If someone want to pitch Chinese/Japanese/Korean novels that's fine as well, but only if it has interesting plot, good writing and well written characters. 3yt5n

So something like

  • Dorohedoro
  • One Piece
  • Houseki no Kuni
  • Tegami Bachi
  • Tower of God
  • Made in Abyss
  • The Promised Neverland

Kubera

There aren't many long series with as much attention to detail as Kubera. This includes both the world building and the characters. Best fitting recommendation I can think of. In case you don't like the art, I can assure you it improves a lot over time.

Dungeon Meshi is another one I can think of. The world building is interesting, but this series is mostly episodic, so plot progress is slow.

All of these novels have original and well developed setting. As for characters and story, I could argue that they are better than most stuff mentioned in this topic so far, but in the end it all comes down to personal preferences, so you should just try them yourself.

Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon (Novel)

Seikai no Monshou (Novel)

Shuumatsu Nani Shitemasu ka? Isogashii Desu ka? Sukutte Moratte Ii Desu ka? (Novel)

Tatakau Shisho (Novel)

Maybe I wasn't quite clear enough. So as reference for future posts, manga like Vinland Saga and Akatsuki no Yona are great, but the setting themselves aren't really interesting or unique. Vinland Saga is basically historical Britain, Demark etc. Yona is just ancient China/Korea inspired culture. Not quite what I'm looking for atm. I suppose to be more specific I'm looking for series where the world has some sort of interesting twists, places that inspired a sense of wonder, or unique culture.

Thanks for the recommendations so far!
