It's going way too fast. Skips around a lot. One day they're stunts, the other day they're working adults. That made me disappointed. Not that much character development at all. Cute romance going on. Happy go lucky couple. :3
I stopped reading it because there was something missing--my attention was never grabbed. Not great sex scenes, not particularly sparkling dialogue or funny moments or deep story... It was just very "myeh."
It was a bit strange to have so many very short chapters in between, but on the other hand it's not a bad thing to see such little glimpses at their love life and thoughts.
The art is good, the story is good in general, but it's not coming across all smoothly.
Cannot tell whether it's the manga itself of the translation (probably both) but it's rather choppy, confusing and hard to follow.
The characters aren't in depth enough but they're quite likable.
The rival character who shows up half way through also never returns and seems to be just randomly gone again.
There's certainly many mangaka who do a better job at storytelling but I still enjoyed reading this (and Duetto even though the spin-off part is soooooo tiny: Duetto's photographer guy shows up like twice and that's it) at least once.
It's good for what it is: it shows the relationship of two childhood friends who've always been close and went from friendship to love eventually. Furthermore it deals with the longing and lonely feelings of having your loved one being a popular model who travels around the world.
It's okay to have a story once in a while without crazy drama, jealousy, violence and all that.
i had no particular trouble following it, and rather liked the "slice of life" approach. i also wasn't craving drama, and was really glad that the potential rivals were dismissed post haste. but i still think it fell mostly flat. there seemed so little development in the characters and the relationship, even though the manga covers years. for example, at the very end we find something out about hiroshi:
he thinks to himself "my entire life won't be what i want it to be because of takuya". WTF? how not? what did he want it to be? maybe i could muster more empathy if we were actually told earlier that this is somehow not at all what he wants, and that he has to bury an important dream, pay a high price for being with takuya.
by the end i was very tired of hiroshi and his never-ending attempts to push takuya away. couldn't he just ONCE have shown some happiness at takuya coming back early, or wanting to sit closer to him on a bench, or whatever? ok, so maybe not outside, in order to protect takuya's career; fine, but it's not like he's any more affectionate at home. he never once initiates any intimacy; and notwithstanding the ice cream episode, i got the feeling that he didn't actually ever want to have sex, and that made the sex totally non-hot for me. takuya worked so hard on this relationship from the start, and hiroshi dragged his feet every step of the way. i just got fed up with him, and was glad when the manga was over.
the premise is interesting supposedly and the reason i started reading this. it looks promising and really has potential to be a great read after. oh well, we can't have it all and this manga lacks some of those things. the story is bit jumpy and dist. it might also be a factor in translation but I am not sure in that area since i can't understand the original language anyway even i have the raw. read this when you're free and nothing else to do...that is.
why do people crave drama? this manga is very realistic. you get to follow this couple from the time they are kids, teens, and finally adults. i loved the flow of the story and how thier relationship developed. very sweet manga...
UPDATE:
pleochroic: I think what he meant was that he never expected to spend his life with a guy, particularly his best friend. he probably expected to be a business man, with a wife and kids. his life is now completely different because his love and his feelings have tied him to a man that is very flashy and crazy, a man that drives him crazy.
hiroshi does show love to takuya all the time. he is the one person he thinks about when he thinks he will die. he decides to move so takuya can focus on his career. and when a guy hits on him, he looks at takuya with concern, because he is standing there looking at another man confess to him.
Very flat and uninteresting art and story. And. It's. 16. chapters.
sooo tired -_-
I just couldn't get into it. There was no compelling conflict of individual, other or society.
The story didn't have an outline meaning doesn't have a climax etc.. The story was plain and there's was a lot of possibilities in the stories that can turn it more interesting but it didn't happen. For example the model that look like takuya who fell in love with the uke, i was hoping for a little rivalry but it didn't happen and also about that photographer. The ending was kinda ok but not that great. Overall it was a nice manga for starter but reading a lot of yaoi manga i was bored with this series. One last thing, this series have lot of shift between each chapter so you might get confuse while reading it.
this manga is very heart-touching i liked it alot 😀 and when i say this i know it's what i believe because i've read a lot manga about now , and this one is still in mi mind
ps: i've finally found a man who draws yaoi ...congratulation for the mangaka
